Offshore Sport Fishing Packing ListPacking For Your Deep Sea Fishing Vacation
Going on vacation is a very fun time for the family. However, going on a deep sea fishing vacation to South Padre Island is on a whole other level! This is an action-packed trip complete with a boat, lots of beautiful water, and all types of fish! You will find yourself heading on a journey that will be filled with all kinds of fun and excitement. Of course, it is usually Mom who does the packing, so she will want to make sure that everything that should be brought on this vacation will make it into the luggage and vehicle. If you are a Dad traveling solo, then you would have to make sure you have what you need to make this trip a success. Refer to our lists below to make your packing a breeze whether you're packing for the whole family or simply a solo getaway. Packing What’s Important Packing the essentials is the bare minimum of what you need. However, there are other things you probably never thought of that may come in handy on this trip for 'just in case' purposes. It does not matter if you are a Mother packing for her family or a Dad going fishing for the first time. You need to make sure you come equipped to deal with anything that may arise on your vacation. Basically, you do not want to be caught unprepared. Packing The First Aid Kit Most people would start with clothing but let’s face it, you are going to be surrounded by water, so safety should come first before everything else. That is in a kit all by itself. Also, there are other things that can go right along with it. Everything thing you need to pack for safety here includes: • Band-aids in all sizes • Antibiotic creams and ointments • Peroxide • Bandages • Wet Wipes • Scissors • Headache Medicine • Medicine for sea sickness These are usually the things that make up the first aid kit*, and you must have this on hand with the last two important items being added. Also, there are other safety mechanisms you should readily available for just in case purposes that include: • Hand Sanitizer • Vaseline or some form of chapstick • Sunscreen that is designed to protect you from being out under the sun all day. • Life Vests* *NOTE: the Megabite has a first aid kit aboard the boat. You are welcome to bring additional first aid items if you have a special preference for a certain brand or require specialized medicine, like an EpiPen. We also carry a sufficient number of adult life vests for passengers aboard the boat. Some parents prefer to supplement with a youth life vest if your children are too small for an adult life preserver. Packing The Clothing Now you can start packing the clothes once you have gotten the emergency supplies out of the way. This is a surefire way to keep you from forgetting anything. Because it is going to be hot, you need to make that the entire family is comfortable in what they wear. Texas can get pretty heated during the summer months. If you are a man traveling solo, just make sure that what you wear is comfortable. You do not want to have a heat stroke from wearing the wrong type of clothing. So what should be packed inside of the bag for this vacation? Well, this includes: • Breathable clothes in light colors (remember the heat) • A well-shaded hat (Something that has an extra flap that will help shade your face, ears, and neck) • Comfortable, sturdy shoes that can get wet • Rain Attire (A good quality poncho) • A light sweater or windbreaker (For possible chill in the mornings) • Sunglasses (keep the sun out of your eyes) • Socks (In case it’s chilly) You have to be prepared for the weather when fishing in South Padre Island Texas. The Lonestar State is known for its finicky weather. It can be cold in the morning and very hot in the afternoon. So you must dress accordingly. There is nothing wrong with being prepared for anything to happen. You do not want to be caught off guard. Next comes at least a couple of items that are required in order to do any fishing of any kind. You should check to see if these items are covered in the trip. However, if it is not, this what you need to bring: • Fishing license • Bait and Tackle (provided by Megabite) • Fishing Rods (provided by Megabite) • A small cooler full of ice and bottled water (provided by Megabite) • Snacks and sandwiches (provided by Megabite) • A Camera You need to understand that deep sea fishing is an activity that is taking you way out into the sea, as far as 35 miles offshore. If you are not used to being deep water, it can be stressful. We recommend reducing stress and increasing your comfort by having all of these items on hand. If you are a man and you are going on a trip like this for the first time, you may not need everything on the list but you do need to check off the basics and the first aid kit, at minimum. Please understand that these are very important items you can not do without. Aside from the first aid kit, your list may include: • Light clothing • Comfortable shoes • Sunscreen • Sunglasses • Rain gear • Snacks (provided by Megabite) • Water (provided by Megabite) • Fishing license • Bait (provided by Megabite) • Rod (provided by Megabite) These are things that most Men who go on trips like this will likely pack on their trip out at sea. The main thing is that the essentials are covered. Having packed for your trip in advance helps you to remember the things you need so that you do not forget them. Packing to go out on a fishing charter in South Padre Island Texas can be a fun experience. You just never know what might happen. What if your catch is the biggest fish of the day? You will definitely have so much fun. |
